Smokey’s Scouts Press Kit
Working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, I created a press kit to support their student interns, who released three animated shorts to promote wildfire safety.
My deliverables included a movie poster for the premiere, social media posts to share about the project, and thumbnails for YouTube.
The final movie poster for the release of Smokey’s Scouts, illustrated & colored within Procreate. The character’s posing was inspired by animation scenes, but redrawn to harmonize line weight, coloring, and to create a more polished “scene” for the final poster. As an additional interactive asset, the art was converted into a coloring page.
The thumbnails I created were composited using placeholder images from the in-progress animations and the style guide from the original release of the Smokey’s Scouts mobile game.
Digital Assets
Aside from the poster, I was tasked with creating several thumbnail covers for YouTube, and a social media post to promote the release.
Utilizing stock imagery, I worked with the isolated characters from the movie poster to create the covers. The final versions would include an overlay that is present on every video released by ODNR, so I made sure to leave plenty of breathing room along the top margin.
As an additional deliverable, I created this coloring page of the linework, as the series is used to promote wildfire safety in schools.
